Obscured

Obscured explores the research question "How might I investigate picket fence animation in order to integrate motion to a print format?". This research topic investigates how to bring motion, a time based format, into a static medium in order to create interest.

The end result is a black and white name card design that has a transparent insert that plays out an animation when pulled out. Below are also shots of experimentation using the technique to explore its limitations and ideal setup for the project.

Brief

The Special Topic project requires students to posit a research question and investigate it through experimentation and research. Students will then produce a design outcome that incorporates the research question (giving it a context), and a manually-bound research documentation. The project outline includes an initial pitch & proposal,  weekly presentations to showcase progress, feedback sessions with lecturers, and a final presentation.
